Lentil and Vegetable Soup Recipe

375 ml (1½ cups) green lentils

45 ml (3t) oil

1 onion finely chopped

5 ml (1 tsp) paprika

5 ml (1 tsp) oregano

2 litres (8 cups) vegetable stock

1 can (410g) crushed tomatoes

1 can (75 g) tomato paste

3 sticks celery thinly sliced

2 medium carrots thinly sliced

2 bay leaves

3 small baby marrows sliced

150g green beans cut in half

1 can (410g) beans in tomato sauce

Salt and freshly ground pepper

The SASSETA Roadshows a huge success

The annual SASSETA roadshows, which took place from 22 February 2011 until 24 March 2011, were quite a huge success. The roadshows were held in 18 venues across the 9 provinces of South Africa and attracted 1 422 delegates.  

The National Skills Development Strategy II goals that this roadshow project supports are:

  • Prioritising and communicating critical skills for sustainable growth, development and equity.
  • Promoting and accelerating quality training for all in the workplace.

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr. B. E. Nzimande, launched the third National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III) on the 13th January 2011 in Midrand, Johannesburg. The NSDS is the overarching strategic guide for skills development and provides a framework for skills development planning and implementation in the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs). The strategy will be implemented over the next five years commencing on 1 April 2011.
